Southerness Lighthouse: A Tourist Spot

This is my outcome of the Southerness Lighthouse project, and I am happy with the result. I was advised to keep it natural, and simple. This helps to let the facts speak for themselves, along with including an element of mystery. Special thanks to Sandy Peterson for allowing me to film him.

Blood Lawyers Project Continued

The deadline for this project is drawing to a close in the next couple of weeks. This is some more screenshots of what I have been working on.

My Showreel

This is my 2010 showreel. I think it showcases a lot of my best work. I have updated my CV and finished my cover letter. I have updated my linkedin profile, and added a link to this website and my Personal Project blog.

Southerness Lighthouse Logo

I have filmed my footage for this project and developed the logo which you can see the conclusion of below.

This was one of my final ideas in development but felt it was going to far away from the original logo.

The Bird and the Fly

This is the final render of my animation.. I wanted to show a short scenario which includes suspense and humour. The humour has a lot to do with the music I included from one of my favourite games, Farenheit.

Bird Animation

This is an animation project, I am still trying to get the character rig up to scratch and sort out the scenario, but here are some screenshots of the character so far. I aim for the middle of next week to fnish the rig, get the storyboards and animatic finished, then I can start animating. Final Deadline. (12th May)

This shows where I am with he rig so far.. I still have a bit of work to do here!...

Southerness Lighthouse Project - Persuasive Narrative

I'm currently trying to make an advertisement on location down at Southerness Holiday Village. I got in touch with a man called Sandy who is trying to make the abandoned lighthouse into a tourist attraction and hopefully try and open the lighthouse up so you can explore inside. I'm also developing a logo for it, which could be used as part of the southerness logo's. My inspiration for this is the original Southerness logo(below). This particular lighthouse and beach is really close to my heart as I have been going to that caravan site for a number of years. It will also give me some experience shooting film on location. Hope to get some nice weather as I am scheduled to interview Sandy next weekend. Will keep you updated on how that goes.

BBC Prototype

I was chosen to take part working on game prototypes at the BBC Glasgow for two weeks. It was an experience I will never forget. I loved working to restricted time constraints. It really made me think that I could handle working in a situation like this, and had a really good team to work with that always helps. Here are the blog links to give you more info on it. Here are a few screenshots of what I came up with. I was involved in art assets and backgrounds.

Tern TV - The Blood Lawyers

As part of my personal project, I've been working with Tern TV on a multiplatform game called The Blood Lawyers. It is from a book by author Matthew Fitt, and he is currently about to write a 2nd book which is very exciting. In the team of 12 I have been involved in coming up with ideas for the VINE world, including map ideas, development for the look and feel of the cyberworld, rural, and urban environments. I am about to get models of the buildings and structures finished in the next few weeks, as well as mock up ideas of the interface of the auch aye pad. Here is a few screenshots of some of my development concept art.

Alien and Baby

These are some screenshots of a 34 sec animation I did last year. My aim was to try and get as much emotion into the character as possible. Development, storyboards, and an animatic were included. The idea of the animation is that it has just landed, and doesnt know where it is, or how to use it's body.

Fireball

I enjoyed learning about 3D programming using XNA, and importing my 3D assets from Maya. This has made me realise I like the process of level design. This was the first time I actualy managed to choose the simple concept of using a ball and moving it through obstacles, and in turn made it into something interesting by integrating my own style.

Soul Swap

I really enjoyed this project. It allowed me to think of large scale ideas, then simplify them down to allow me to make a short demo using some basic flash programing.
